Kurnool district is bounded by Districts of both Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, on North side by Mahabub Nagar, on South side by Anantapur, KADAPA (Cuddapah), on East side by Praksam (Ongole) and on West side by Bellary (A district in Karnataka State). Kurnool district covers an area of 17,658 sq km.

About Kurnool District
Kurnool district derives its name from its chief town Kurnool the capital of former Nawabs, Capital of Andhra Pradesh State from 1st October 1953 to 1st November, 1956. The name Kurnool is said to have been derived form “Kandanavolu”.
Telugu and Kannada are the widely spoken languages. Kurnool is a center of Hindu pilgrimage and is surrounded by hill resorts.
